About Casa Beneficencia
Just steps away from the historic Juan de Dios church lies the hidden oasis of Casa Beneficencia. This beautiful 3-bedroom, 5-bathroom home is a lush retreat only 4 blocks from the Jardin in the western section of Centro, very near the Warren Hardy language school.
The ultimate in San Miguel style and living, Casa Beneficencia has been lovingly restored and decorated by one of San Miguel's premier designers (Rachel Horn). The home is spread out over 4000 square feet of living space, plus numerous patios and terraces for maximum enjoyment of San Miguel's indoor/outdoor lifestyle.
On the first level of the house, you find the gracious living room, the dining room with seating for eight, a den/office (with one TV) and a lovely tiled kitchen. Also on this level is a patio with fountain and a built-in grill plus outdoor dining area. Up a few stairs from this patio is another patio and pool terrace. The good-sized pool and outdoor Jacuzzi are special features of this home, set in a beautifully tiled and landscaped garden area that's perfect for afternoon lounging.
If those outdoor areas are not enough, you will be truly impressed by the grand roof terrace level of the house, featuring a covered outdoor dining/living sala with bar and fireplace, plus plush leather sofas and a TV -- the ultimate for open-air living. The view from this roof terrace is oriented toward the western mountains, a perfect venue for your sunset cocktails.
Casa Beneficencia has 3 bedrooms, each with its en-suite bathroom and private patio. The layout of the house provides privacy for each bedroom area, as well as a few design surprises. The master suite on the second floor has a king bed, luxurious bathroom and separate sitting room. Another TV is located here. There is second guest bedroom with a queen bed, plus a third bedroom with two twins, which also can be made up into a king bed. A separate den on the second floor has a sleeper sofa (queen size), which can work for a seventh person or for children. All bedrooms are outfitted with fine linens, towels and furnishings.
A staff of three (maid, cook and gardener) keep the house in tip-top shape and provide you with full services. Juana the cook has been trained in many cuisines, and she is available Mon - Fri from 9 am to 5 pm to prepare breakfast and mid-day comida, plus breakfast on Saturdays as well (her hours on Saturday are from 9 am to 12 noon). Rosa the housekeeper comes for the same hours to clean and do laundry.
With prior arrangement, it is possible to have Juana return in the evening to prepare a special dinner if you want to dine at home. In that case, you would need to make arrangements with her in advance, and then pay her 100 pesos/hour for her overtime, plus cabfare home after dark.
Casa Beneficencia has a whole-house water filtration system and all of the other amenities you might expect: DISH satellite TV with U.S. channels (all 3 TVs have Blu-Ray, and the TV in the downstairs study has a slingbox which connects to USA Netflix), DVD players and a Bose sound system (including iPod docking stations in the living room and also on the roof terrace), a Vonage phone for calling to the U.S. and Canada, and high-speed Internet with wi/fi throughout the house.

Please note: The holiday rate for the latter part of December is $450 USD/night with a 5-night minimum. Also, for rentals of less than a week, the per diem rate is $450 USD.
