About Casa San Jose
Casa San Jose is the perfect luxury hideaway for a larger group seeking the best of the San Miguel lifestyle. Located an easy walk from the Jardin (main square), this spacious 6-bedroom/7.5-bathroom villa was recently totally remodeled but in keeping with the historic colonial style so beloved throughout this UNESCO World Heritage town.
Entering the house, you come into the lovely central courtyard lined with stone columns and tall archways. The focal point of this lushly landscaped oasis is a bubbling fountain that appears to float in a small pool. The formal living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom and three other guest suites all open into this courtyard in the classic architectural style of colonial Mexico.
The house has been beautifully furnished with carefully selected antiques, hand-crafted furniture from the region and stunning artwork and tapestries. All of the rooms have raised ceilings and exposed wooden beams.
The elegant dining room accommodates up to 12 guests and has French doors, which can remain open to enjoy the temperate San Miguel climate. The living room also has several sets of French doors, as well as a large gas fireplace and a desk concealed inside an armoire. Just off the living room is a game room with billiards, a card table and wall-mounted Scrabble board. There is also a media room/home theater featuring a 70-inch TV screen with surround-sound speakers, a Netflix account and Blu-Ray DVDs. The well-appointed kitchen and breakfast nook can easily accommodate up to 10 guests for casual dining or a cooking demonstration by a local chef on the Viking appliances. But guests will also enjoy the services provided by the house cook, Luz, for breakfast 6 days a week and lunch/snacks 5 days a week. This cook service is part of your rental, but you do pay extra for the actual food/beverages. Luz and Sandra, the housekeeper, are on duty from Mon - Fri, 9 am to 3 pm, and on Sat from 9 am to 12 noon.
The staff (including gardener Gregorio) is overseen by Jorge, the English-speaking house manager, who will be your main contact for concierge services in the house. Jorge will do everything to make your stay enjoyable. As a former bartender, he also can make you a mean Margarita!
A walkway from the living room passes the kitchen and leads you to the beautiful garden, wading pool with fountain and a large covered terrace. There are lounge chairs on the grass by the pool in addition to two sitting areas on the terrace, where you'll also find an entertainment bar, a gas fireplace and a BBQ grill.
All of the six bedrooms are of generous proportions and stocked with all the amenities. Five of the bedrooms have king beds, but one has two twins (which can also be made up into a king bed, if desired). Each room has a sitting area, a gas fireplace and a phone (with instruction cards), plus an ensuite bathroom with dual sinks. The guest rooms vary, as some have a combination bath/shower, and others have just a shower. Two of the guest bedrooms are on the second floor of the house. The third floor is a rooftop terrace with another garden and amazing views across the center of San Miguel, including the famous spires of the Parroquia church.
There is wi/fi in the den, living room and the back garden. Purified water is available throughout the house. No parking at the house, but there is a secure pay parking lot very close by.

House can be rented on a sliding scale, depending on number of bedrooms used:
- 6 bedrooms/whole house - $10,500 USD/week (up to 12 guests)
- 5 bedrooms - $9000 USD/week (up to 10 guests)
- 4 bedrooms - $7500 USD/week (up to 8 guests)
- 3-day weekend rental (whole house) - $1800 USD/night
*Refundable security deposit of $1000 USD required with each rental. Pool heating also is extra.
*Mandatory tipping requirement for staff to share: $100 USD per bedroom used for a stay of one week. For 3-day weekend rental, tip should be: $300 USD.
*Small events (20 or fewer guests included with rental. Larger events need to be evaluated and approved in advance on a case-by-case-basis. There is a flat fee for events of $1000 USD.
- Maximum event sizes: 50 people for a seated dining event, or 80 for a cocktail event.
