Maybe you want to take a Mexican cooking class while on your vacation in San Miguel. But maybe you also want to take advantage of this special “foreign” cooking class, to be held in San Miguel on Jan 20-23, 2010…
If Italian food comes close to the top of your list of favorite foods, you will not want to miss the San Miguel master classes conducted by one of Italy’s most celebrated food mavens, Judy Witts Francini, who runs the noted Divina Cocina cooking school in Florence.
Francini’s life reads like one of those romantic novels, only it all came true. She learned to cook in San Francisco, had a job there as the pastry chef at the five-star Stanford Court Hotel, and then took off on a one-way ticket to Italy, where under the Tuscan sun she met the love of her life, Andrea Francini. She married him a year later and learned how to dish up divine Italian food with lessons from Tina, her new mother-in-law.
Aside from managing her very successful cooking school, Francini runs gourmet tours of Tuscany and Sicily. Her recent cookbook “Secrets from My Tuscan Kitchen,” has just been published to much acclaim.
Francini will be giving cooking classes on Jan 20, Jan 21 and Jan 23 at Rancho Casa Luna, located just outside of San Miguel de Allende in the Mexican country village of La Cienegita. You can choose to take the hands-on classes or just go out to the Rancho (transportation provided for students and foodies alike) to enjoy the countryside while eating the mouth-watering meals prepared by the chef and her students.
All the menus will be created with local organic produce, some of it from the greenhouses of the Rancho, which is dedicated to growing healthy food.
