The Pozos Summer Artwalk will take place on August 7, 8 and 9, 2009. Pozos, a former mining town located about an hour’s drive east of San Miguel, is enjoying a revival of late as an artists’ colony. Several San Miguel artists have moved to Pozos to take inspiration from the wild, remote landscape and old deserted silver mines.
In addition to the artwalk (each day from 10 am to 4 pm) to visit participating galleries and shops in town, there will be a mid-day cocktail reception for the seven artists in the current group show at Pozo’s Galeria6 on Saturday, August 8, from 11 am to 2 pm. Visitors from San Miguel can get to Pozos on a special bus that will leave at 10 am on Sat, August 8 and Sun, August 9, from in front of the Liverpool department store in La Luciernaga shopping mall. The bus will return to San Miguel by 5 pm. Bus tickets are $150 pesos for the roundtrip. Tickets are available in San Miguel at the Biblioteca, at the Galeria Pergola in the Instituto Allende, and at Dewayne Youts’s store at Fabrica Aurora. Tickets may also be purchased at the bus on a first-come/first-serve basis.
